Celebs

So who are these east London people anyway? Well, you already know some of them.

William Morris (Walthamstow) designer of well known beautiful British patterns, writer of the fantasy novels which inspired C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. Visit the gallery at his house in Walthamstow (in renovation until summer 2012).
Alfred Hitchcock (Leytonstone) visual innovator director of scary films. Leytonstone tube tiles pay tribute to him.  In fact, all of Leytonstone pays tribute to him -- there is even a Sir Alfred Hitchcock Hotel.
Winston Churchill (Woodford)
Iron Maiden (Leyton)
East 17 (Walthamstow)
Idris Elba (Canning Town) Stringer Bell from the Wire.
David Beckham (Chingford) was born at Whipps Cross hospital and started playing football in Chingford.
Samantha Fox (Mile End) pin-up and singer. A joke my dad told during my childhood: "If all British women looked like Samantha Fox, the Fremch would have dug the Chunnel on time."
Jesse J (Redbridge) reminds me a lot of Sam Fox.
Danny Boyle (Bow) who gave the world Trainspotting and is working on the Olympics show
David Albarn (Whitechapel and Leytontone) frontman for Blur and Gorillaz
